The northernmost province
of Thailand, Chiang Rai is situated on the Kok
River basin 416 metres above sea level. With an
area of some 11,678 square Kilometres. It is
about 785 Kilometres from Bangkok. Mostly
mountainous, it reaches the Mae Khong River to
the north and borders on both Myanmar and Laos.
We only play at two golf courses in Chaing Rai
so it is ideal for a mini-break to add on to
your holiday. Both courses are excellent and the
climate during winter is like a fine English
summer’s day - warm with little or no humidity.
The province is rich in tourism resources in
terms of natural attractions and antiquities and
evidence of its past civilisation. It is also
home to several hill tribes who follow
fascinating ways of life. Chiang Rai is also a
tourism gateway into Myanmar and Laos.
Chaing Rai is much quieter than Chiang Mai. It
has a very comfortable climate during the winter
months – you might even need a light sweater
when walking around at night. The city is
charming and very clean. The night market is a
great place to eat and enjoy traditional Thai
music and dancing.
